Georgia JugFest and Old Knoxville Days Festival

Knoxville and Roberta, located about 20 miles west of Macon, will celebrate the Georgia
JugFest and Old Knoxville Days Festival on May 17. During the 1800’s and early 1900’s,
making decorative or functional pottery was a large part
of the area’s economy. Now it is celebrated for its histor-
ical value and as collectible folk art.
The Knoxville community wood-burning kiln fires
up early in the week in preparation for the pottery sale on
Saturday, May 17, at 9am. Pre-festival events begin on
the evening of Thursday, May 15 with the Georgia Jug-
Fest Pageant in the Auditorium. In Roberta, winners will
be on the field. Also on Thursday, the 2025 Historical
Society will announce the of Potter Of the Year Benja-
min “Jack” Becham and the luncheon speaker, Professor
Matt H Jennings. Jennings’ topic is “From Muskogee
Antiquity to Creek Agency: Taking the long View of
      Georgia’s Native Past.”
Saturday on the Festival Field and the FairField Inn,
pottery vendors, and hand-crafted offerings are available
to buy. There will be information on local businesses and,
of course, local vendors, food trucks and so much more.
Music will fill the air to keep the toes tapping toes
with great on-stage performances. Don’t miss the great Children’s Area and so much more. For
the love of mud come and enjoy the day from 8:30am-5pm. We hope to have over 100 booths
and pottery displays for your enjoyment. There is something for everyone, a variety of vendors
