Enjoy Fall Camellia Blossoms & Porcelains at
Massee Lane Gardens
Enjoy the change of season with a stroll in Massee Lane Gardens’ thirty acres of specialty
gardens. Camellias begin blooming in the fall with the first sign of cooler evenings. New
varieties blooming almost every day from September
through April. In addition to its designation as an
International Garden of Excellence, Massee Lane
Gardens is the headquarters of the American Camellia
Society, and home to one of the finest collections of
camellia plants in the United States.
Brick walkways guide guests through nine acres
of colorful camellias blooming beneath pine trees.
Guests can enjoy more delicate camellia varieties in a
show greenhouse and see the diversity and smell the
scents of more uncommon camellias in the species
garden. The camellia collection is complimented by
a rose garden, a Japanese garden, a children’s garden, and an environmental garden with a pool
and asphalt walking track.
Two museum galleries showcase an exquisite collection of porcelain sculptures with many
one-of-a-kind nature-themed pieces. The Edward Marshall Boehm collection is the largest on
public display in the United States and features nearly all of his camellia blossom sculptures.
There are also Cybis, Connoisseur and Bronn pieces.
Groups of ten or more can make reservations for professionally guided tours and boxed
lunches. The Festival of Camellias kicks off in late January and extends through
the entire month of February, with activities for children and workshops on
gardening. Don’t miss our expanded gift shop and nature-themed toys for
children. Open 10:00am until 4:30pm Tuesday through Saturday and 1pm
until 4:30pm on Sundays. Visit www.americancamellias.com or call 877-
