5th Annual Gopher Tortoise Festival in Douglas
Deep in the southeast region of Georgia, people will be gathering on October 4 for the 5th
Annual Gopher Tortoise Festival https://en-gb.facebook.com/VisitDouglasCoffeeCountyGA.
Festival hours are 9am to 4pm. A true arts & crafts fair featuring only handmade, homemade,
& homegrown goods. This fun, family event in Douglas-Coffee County also hosts food trucks,
live music, snack vendors, free kid’s activi-
ties and fun for the whole family. This year
will be bigger and better than ever—more
vendors, more food, more excitement, in-
cluding a music stage featuring local groups
and acts. And we couldn’t leave out live go-
pher tortoises and reptile shows by the Oke-
fenokee Swamp Park Animal Shows.
Stick around for the Larry Fleet concert
at our Martin Centre Theatre. Tickets avail-
able at www.themartincentre.com.
Take a “coffee” break and come unwind
in our lovely little town. We have some
amazing local restaurants, great boutiques, lots of antiques and so much more, all right down-
town within walking distance of the festival. We also have some great places to see, shop
and eat just a couple minutes drive from downtown. Visit the petting zoo or walk through the
south Georgia swampland and over the 17-Mile River at General Coffee State Park. Learn
some World War II history and check out some really cool planes at our WWII
Airbase Training Museum and Douglas Municipal Airport. Stroll along the Gre-
enway Walking Trail and stop by the Heritage Station Museum for some local
history and see the restored train car. You can check them all out at www.visit-
douglasga.org.
We can’t wait to see you here.
